The Institute for Research and Information on Volunteering (iriv) joins international solidarity in favour of Ukraine attacked by Russia on 24 February 2022. After a pandemic that has weakened democratic countries with the worrying rise of conspiracy theories and hate speech on social networks, we hope that this war in Europe is an opportunity to think about a new solidarity, in Europe and with our international allies. This newsletter is the 8th published in 2023 and the 18th since the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
Communication, like cinema, is both an art and a technique. Between Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenski, a dialogue of the deaf has been established since the beginning which logically led to a coup de force by the Russian president in February 2022, convinced that his Ukrainian counterpart did not understand his message. But is it so sure? Is it not exactly the opposite: Russia, which did not understand the communication may be confused at first, but increasingly clear from Ukraine. Far from hesitating and doubting, it has been affirmed over the years – it refuses the Russian Diktat, to submit and execute itself, and suggests a dialogue between “equals”. In the Bible, the battle between David and Goliath has surprises (1). It was not the champion of the Philistines who won but David who was not the strongest, but the most determined because he was in his right. In the international aeronautical alphabet each letter is represented by a word: A for Alpha, B for Bravo, etc (2). Papa Tango Charlie means “CTP”.
